Unpack the snow shoes, we're walking from here...

Chaos has struck the little island we've come to know and love as the UK... I repeat chaos has struck. Havoc and panic have swamped the nation as alien white flakes have floated down from the sky at alarming speed. The roads have come to a stand still. Transport networks have been suspended. People have been left stranded. The supermarkets have been emptied of supplies as worried residents have fought for jars of Branston pickle and cans of pilchards... y'know, just in case. Yes, the UK has been engulfed... in a few inches of snow.

You'd be forgiven for thinking we never get snow on this island, but we get it every year! We're just notorious for falling apart at the first sign of it. It's embarrassing, really.

We're currently snowed in with half a foot of snow as the road is impassable. I'm sure it's the case for many, and that you've had to resort to travelling on foot. Although walking in snow isn't pleasant unless you have decent waterproof footwear.

So I've decided to share some footwear which I personally recommend for negotiating a strenuous walk in the snow. I've not been asked to promote the products coming up, I just genuinely recommend them from personal experience.

If you want to walk outside in the snow, you really need a pair of waterproof boots with good tread to the soles to prevent you from slipping. I'm sure you'll agree that wet feet and falling over in public are both far from fun.

If you're plus size or have large calves it can be difficult to find wellington boots that cater to you, and even harder to find fashionable styles. Never fear, I have a great alternative to the regular welly to show you today... Joules Wellibobs.

All currently £34.95 a pair.

Joules wellibobs are ankle boot wellies which look similar to the classic Chelsea boot. They're designed to keep your feet warm and dry, whilst being practical, stylish, and easy to pull on for popping outside.

They're a great solution if you struggle to find welly boots which cater to your size, and I equally recommended them if you're just looking for something a little different to the classic welly. I can personally find ordinary wellies to be quite snug on my shapely legs, but thankfully there is nothing to worry about with these ankle boots. They're even generous enough in width to fit my wide feet.

I bought myself a pair of wellibobs a few winters ago when a foot of snow fell whilst I was at work and all I had on my feet were Converse. Thankfully I worked in a store which sold adult wellies in another department. I didn't have time to find out if ordinary wellies would fit my calves, so snapped up a pair of the ankle boots...  they saved the day! I've worn mine every time it's snowed over the last few years, and I really don't know what I'd do without them. They fit well, keep my feet dry in the snow, and the great tread makes walking easier and reduces the risk of slipping over. They're brilliant! I honestly don't think I could be without them now because they make conquering snow so easy... Typically I left my pair at home... a hundred miles away... Thankfully all the women in my family now own a pair, so I can always nick my sister's!

Joules stock sizes 3-8 and bring out new designs each A/W and S/S. They even have a range for children. If ankle boots just aren't your thing, they also stock fashionable wellies in various funky patterns and colours.

Do you own a pair of Joules' wellibobs, or wellies?

What do you wear on your feet when you're out in the snow?

    1. We are! You'd think in this day and age we'd be better equiped to deal with it! I love it when it snows; I always want to go outside and enjoy it like an oversized kid. Doubt that'll ever change! The snow at my sister's rained away last Tuesday, but then we returned home to about a foot of it on Wednesday. Loved it! xx

    1. I don't know if they deliver worldwide, but they're definitely worth buying if you can get hold of them. They're brilliant at keeping the feet dry, and have good tread, too.
