Nails | Maxfactor Max Effect Mini Nail Polish Dazzling Blue

I was in Sainsbury's at the beginning of the week, and naturally wandered down the make up aisle for a quick browse.

I think I'm beginning to develop a serious nail polish addiction; I always have to take a peek at make up displays to see if any nail polishes catch my eye, even though I have a handsome collection at home.

This week, one little polish called out to me: MaxFactor Max Effect Mini Nail Polish in Dazzling Blue.

I've found this nail polish has been very difficult to photograph properly. When I've attempted to do a basic auto correct to the contrast, picture sharpness, and so on, the colour has come up too dark. So, I've added two untouched photographs, and the same two that have had very basic alterations.

The polish is a two-tone metallic, which I would personally describe as a mixture of dark ice blue, spearmint, and lavender. It's beautiful, and unlike any other I've ever used.

This photo is probably the closest to the true likeness of the end result, although the colours have darkened as the days have gone on.

I applied three coats (although I think two would have sufficed for good coverage) on Monday or Tuesday, and it only began to chip today (Friday)! The only other brand I've tried that's remained unchipped as long is Inglot. I'm very impressed with it's staying power, and if that wasn't good enough, each coat dried flawlessly in minutes.

The polish cost £3.99, and yes it is a little expensive for the size of the bottle, but it would probably last for around four wears which isn't bad at 99 pence a time.

I'm absolutely in love with this polish! I can't fault anything about it, apart from the size- I wish they made these in full size bottles because they're just so beautiful and a dream to handle. I've only tried one other shade before, but I'm certainly going to be hunting out other colours to try. I highly recommend them!

You can buy Maxfactor polishes in most good pharmacies, department stores, and supermarkets in the UK, or online here.

Have you tried Maxfactor Max Effect Mini Nail Polishes before? Can you recommend a colour to me?

  1. This is a lovely colour - so shiny and pretty! :) That's good that it lasts quite well too, nothing annoys me more than when you apply a polish and it chips two days later! xx
