I'm not one of those people who make huge life-altering resolutions at the turn of each New Year. At least not any more. Past experience has taught me that those big fantasy life goals are usually both unrealistic and practically impossible to complete. When I realised this, and hadn't succeeded in bagging the dream job or my mansion by the sea by the end of January, the goals were brushed aside and forgotten about until the next New Year when the process began, albeit briefly, all over again.
What I prefer to do is to set small achievable goals; a list of things I would love to do, or see, or try, which often have a longer time frame than a year in which to be completed. I've made resolutions this way for several years now. I would often compile a list of 101 Things to do in 1001 Days with Mission 101 on Livejournal, but then progressed to Day Zero where I now do the same. Except my current list contains 190 things instead of the suggested 101. I don't do things by halves!
So, I came up with a fresh new list of things I want to achieve in the next 1001 days. Most goals are possible whilst being mobily challenged from my injuries, but some will require better health. I've included those goals with fingers crossed that I'll be further along the road to recovery by then, if not fully recovered. I haven't set my sights too high; almost everything is achievable, and the majority are fun, enjoyable, and/or creative.
Why not take a look and see...

Start Date: January 3rd 2013
End Date: October 2nd 2015
Goals: 190
Goals Completed: 1/190
Goals in Progress: 0/190
Basically, I want to learn how to make things and learn some new skills in the process; I'm especially intent on learning how to make my own jewellery. I want to revisit some pastimes I used to enjoy, such as art and creative writing; both have been gathering dust for far too long, and I'm not quite sure why. I want to improve my photography. I want to switch off the laptop long enough to get stuck in to a good book each day. I want to get through all those books I own but haven't yet read, revisit some old favourites, and make my way through every Stephen King novel(on my bucket list). I want to discover new music, and rediscover old favourites. I want to travel, and cook, and try more nail art. I want to collect great pieces for my wardrobe, wear more separates, try new looks, build up my accessories and separates collections, wear more hair scarves, and learn new make up looks. And I want to make my blog better and more efficient than before, with more tips, advice, and tutorials, and more posts relevant to who I am.
Can I do it all? I don't know... but I'm sure going to give it my best shot!
I may even blog about my progress, if it's something you're interested in seeing? I'm going to add this list to the gadget bar, so please feel free to use some of my goals for your own 101 in 1001 lists or resolutions.
Do you have a 101 Things in 1001 Days list, or have you ever made one? I'd recommend Day Zero Project if you're thinking about creating one, or just wonder what this whole thing is about. It's also a great website for creating Bucket Lists and other goals such as 30 Before 30. I've created both, and have also put together a list of things I want to do when I'm back to full health.
Let's hope I can achieve them all!
What are your New Year's resolutions this year? Do you make them? Do you come up with big lists of plans in the New Year, or do you avoid resolutions at any cost?
