May 31 Day Blogger's Challenge: Day 7

Day 7: A special occasion outfit...

I'm the girl who likes to dress up on a daily basis. Why keep a beautiful outfit hidden in the back of the wardrobe for a special occasion? Beautiful outfits deserve to be worn!

For years I've taken an age to decide on an outfit, even for simple outings like shopping because I worry how people see me. Sad, but true. This stressing has led me to dressing my best as much as I can. The only times I really dress down are probably when I travel, and when I go to concerts on freezing cold Winter days. Even then I'm often still wearing a dress. I may switch to jeans and converse if it's muddy!

I don't often have a special occasion to dress for, but when I do I usually wear a dress with tights, a red nail, some type of pretty shoe, and a subtle bit of bling.  I quickly threw something together to show you...

This Lovedrobe dress was an impulse buy. I went in to a shop to buy leggings, and came out with a dress. I fell in love with the shape of the dress, and the stitching but after a few wears I stored it away unsure of my feelings towards it. Was it a little frumpy for me? I wasn't sure.  Then a couple of months ago I put it on again and the old fire was back. It's certainly one of my dressier dresses, and one I'd wear to a winter wedding or a meal out. Here it's paired with a pair of berry coloured tights, as I think it makes it a little younger. I've kept my arms uncovered to show you the detail, but I never leave the house with arms on show.

These are some of my favourite pieces of jewellery. They're each Swarovski crystal, and I think the metal was crafted from steel. I bought them over a couple of shopping trips to Camden each costing about £25 each. I believe the stall is a regular in the indoors part of the Lock Market, and the jewellery range is just so beautiful!

The star ring and earrings are probably my favourite, but they're all stunning and really sparkle in the light. These are certainly some of my dressier accessories which only come out on special occasions.

I'm still learning how to shape my nails properly, but here I'm wearing an Inglot nail polish. Generally, I wear red when I'm dressing up, but I haven't the energy to repaint them today.

The earrings and two rings on the right are clear- they dazzle blue under the light. The ring on the left is a pale shade of blue.

I've also worn it with teal tights, a blue belt, and a giraffe necklace in the past.

How would you dress this dress? What do you keep for a special occasion?

  2. The embroidery (sp?) on this dress is super pretty! Personally, I think the berry red tights add a special something, but the combination with the teal ones is nice, too, especially with a belt :)
I agree with the not keeping good clothes hidden in the closet for special occasions only... you only live once (probably, maybe)!

    1. I don't know the name of the stall, but if you head towards the bridge over the lock, you'll come to a market on the left hand side which begins outside and carries on indoors. The stall was usually one of the first as you go inside. I hope that helps. Sorry to hear you lost your ring :(
