May 31 Day Blogger's Challenge: Day 5

My Best Bargain...

I've been thinking about this theme for a few days now, and in all honesty I've found it really difficult to come up with anything that's a real bargain.

Don't get me wrong; I love fashion that doesn't cost a fortune, and have found some amazing bargains over the years. The trouble is, the bargains that cost just a few pounds are bought on impulse, and more often than not, end up on ebay or in a boot sale a few months later after realising it isn't for me. I find I don't like the quality, or wear it only a few times before forgetting about it, or realise I don't like the design. I regularly clear out my wardrobe- the last being just before I injured my back, and just haven't been proper bargain shopping since.

However, I did find a couple of dresses in my wardrobe that were a huge reduction on the original price...

I'd admired this particular bird-print dress for months but never committed to buying it. I even had it in my on line shopping basket when it was on offer, but by the time I'd finished browsing somebody had beaten me to the punch. A little disappointed, I soon forgot about it. Then one day I went in to Dorothy Perkins and found it in the sale for just £10 and quickly bought it. I think it was at least £30 originally.

I got this sun-dress in the New Look sale last summer. It was either £7 or £9 (I forget which), and about a quarter (if not less) of the original price. I'm sure it's not to everybody's taste, but it's very light and airy, and a real god-send on stifling hot summer days. It's one of those dresses I wear around the house when I'm not expecting visitors. I'm sure everyone has one of those outfits!

I'll include them in an OOTD post at some point, but just photographing them today was a challenge. I'm having a bad pain day, and struggling to move even more than usual. C'est la vie...

My favourite bargains, aren't necessarily really inexpensive, though discounted generously. I love the feeling of finding something I've been lusting after on offer. Something that may have been out of my budget before is now magically affordable! I also often find discount codes when shopping online, so a good proportion of my clothes bought from new season collections were purchased at a reduced price! Just yesterday I saved £8 on a dress from Dorothy Perkins that was new online that day!

This pretty little coral saddle bag was picked up recently from Accessorize and was half price- just £11 instead of £22. It's the perfect summer day bag, and will go with so many of my outfits. I love it dearly!

This salmon pink Guess shoulder bag was in the sale in Macy's. I can't remember how much I paid, but it was ridiculously discounted, and I also took advantage of the tourist discount they offered. All you have to do is show a passport or hotel key, and they give you a discount card to use around the store. Just another in a long list of reasons why I love New York.

I also have a rather beautiful travel bag by Rice, with teal and aqua fabric on the outside, and a purple polka dot lining that I snapped up at work. It was discounted because of a mark on the fabric, but I love it too much to worry about a small stain.

I'm switched on when it comes to high street bargain shopping, but have never bought clothes or accessories from charity shops, boot sales, vintage stores or ebay.

What bargains have you snapped up?

    1. Thanks hun. The bags are my babies.

I think Bloomingdales offer something similar, too. Arrange a trip to NY as soon as you can- I guarantee you'll love it even more than London.

Just another day in a long line of them. I'm fine :)
