My Spring Essential
Spring in England is notoriously unpredictable. Just when we think we've left the cold, miserable days of Winter behind after lapping up an early heat-wave, we're caught out with another cold snap, or enough rain to have us searching ebay for an ark... just in case!
Okay, perhaps that last one was a slight exaggeration, but our weather is often hard to judge from hour to hour, so it can be difficult to be dressed suitably for all scenarios. I for one, never seem to be wearing suitable shoes when it rains! Not that it's such a problem for me at the minute- I don't have to worry about the elements while I'm stuck in bed, but in previous Springs I'd make sure to pack an umbrella, sun lotion, and gloves in to my day bag to be prepared.
I'd say my spring essential would be a cardigan. I used to have quite a large collection, but had a big clear out of everything past it's prime not so long ago. They're perfect for layering over just about any outfit, and keep me warm enough when it's too hot for a jacket, but too cold for bare arms. If I get too hot and I'm feeling brave, they're easy enough to take off and light enough to carry around all day. I also love wearing scarves in the spring time, too.
Sorry for the quality of today's photographs. Today is another one of the bad days, and I struggled to get dressed and stand up for photos for this post. I decided to just make do with what I took to keep up with this challenge.
I'm wearing my new scallop trimmed lemon coloured cardigan today for the first time. It's a little big, and I realise now I should have bought the smaller size, but hopefully it'll shrink in the wash. I really love yellow clothes in the summer time. I've had this broderie anglaise sun dress for about four or five years, and every time I wear it in the sunshine it makes me feel very summery and happy.
Although, the yellow has faded a little, and I'm wondering if I should dye it to revive it a little. I can't bare to throw it away. I normally wear a clashing colour cardigan, but decided to match today, although the turquoise belt has been added again today to break the colour up.

I was playing dress up at two in the morning, and tried it over the teal tights as I was undressing and putting yesterday's dress away. I kinda like yellow with teal, though I'm not sure if I'd find the confidence to wear this colourful outfit outside!
i love the dress i think it looks amazing with those tights wear it outside you'd rock it ! xx
ReplyDeleteAww thank you! Maybe I'll give it a try some time!
Deletei like the all yellow combination, i'm a sucker for yellow and broderie anglise!- i would defy anyone not to be cheerful when wearing such a colour! the yellow and teal does work too-i currently have a yellow lace top (quite structured and very 60's) i wear when i feel a little bleh and it has a great impact on others too - if we cant have real sunshine we may as well wear it x
ReplyDeleteThank you Maria! I agree, it's such a cheerful colour. It's not to everybody's taste, but I love wearing it x
