I created a new 101 Things in 1001 Days list at the beginning of September, and vowed to do monthly updates on my progress to keep myself motivated, so that's what I'm here to do today. I'm a few days late with the September update, but the thought is still there...
If you don't know, 101 Things in 1001 Days is a list of 101 things to achieve in 1001 days. (Surprisingly enough). Basically it's like lots of on going new year's resolutions spread over a few months shy of three years. The goals are up to the individual and can be anything from drinking eight glasses of water every day to seeing the Northern Lights to crocheting a blanket or seeing a favourite band live in concert. It's up to you. Most of my goals are just little thinks that I'm able to achieve from home to add some variety while I'm house bound. You can see my full list here if you're curious, or want a little inspiration for your own list.
So, let's get on to my progress so far:..
3. Discover 30 great new albums. 1/30
I downloaded the new Kings of Leon album, 'Mechanical Bull', last week and I'm loving it so far.
4. Read 50 new books. 1/50
I finished Stephen King's 'Joyland' a few weeks ago, and I'm currently reading his new novel, 'Doctor Sleep', which is the sequel to The Shining.
5. Watch every DVD I own. 12/?
In September, I watched twelve of my DVDs. Schindler's List, Titanic, The Family Stone, Home Alone, Home Alone 2, You've Got Mail, Practical Magic, Christmas with the Kranks, Dirty Dancing, World Trade Center, The Hunger Games and Safe Haven. I still need to write a list of all my DVDs to cross off as I go along, but I estimate I have around 300 DVDs in my collection. That's a lot of movies to get through!
8. Create an injury inspiration journal.
I decided to start a disc injury journal to fill with inspiring things like quotes, lyrics, and images, and to have somewhere to record good and bad experiences through this journey whenever I feel inspired to do so. I've only done a few pages so far, but it is in progress! I'll probably dedicate a post to it soon.
9. Fill up a notebook with song lyrics.
I've been inspired by song lyrics since I first started getting in to music when I was about eight or nine. I don't know what it is, but I love reading beautifully written lyrics, and discovering verses in songs I can relate to. I've filled dozens of pages of a moleskine notebook so far.
10. Complete a cross stitch project.
I wanted to have a go at a Christmas craft project this year, since Christmas is my favourite time of the year, and I love all things Christmas related. Plus I wanted to find something to occupy myself with. I bought a cute Scandi Chic, fairisle style kit from Amazon about a fortnight ago, "Noel Peace on Earth" Christmas Cross Stitch Kit by Riverdrift House and I've completed a good chunk of it already. I've never attempted a cross stitch larger than the house in this image before; but I'm finding it therapeutic so far.
14. Complete the book '642 Things to Write About.' 19/642
I bought this book as a way of getting back in to creative writing, which is something I've always enjoyed but haven't done for a couple of years. I want to challenge myself and improve my writing skills. The book is fantastic for spurring my imagination and creativity, and so far I've done nineteen of the tasks and number twenty is in progress.
24. Listen to every song in my itunes library. 57/4279
According to my Last Fm scrobbles, I've listened to 57 different songs from my itunes library since I began my 101 in 1001 list on the 7th of September. I think it's missing a few plays, though, so I need a better way of monitoring what I can cross off without resetting my play count.
59. Complete the 5000 Question Survey. 75/5000
For some stupid reason, I'm making it my mission to work through the 5000 Question Survey and I'm aiming to post 25 questions per week or so here on my blog. It's going to be a long, on going goal, working through it at that speed, but some of the questions take a bit of pondering and time to answer. I've completed 75 of the 5000 so far. You can see 1-25 here, 26-50 here, and 51-75 will be posted really soon.
75. Find the perfect red lipstick.
I'm in two minds as to whether I can tick this one of the list yet, because I'm so impressed with the red Inglot lipsticks I bought a couple of weeks ago. I've decided I'll see how I feel about them after a longer period of wear, so for now, this one is just 'in progress.' Though probably complete.
83. Donate a million grains of rice on freerice.com. 1600/1,000,000
I've only managed to donate a measly 1600 grains of rice this month on freerice.com, but I guess every grain counts at the end of the day. You basically answer questions, and every question you get right wins 10 grains of rice which are donated through the World Food Programme to help end hunger.
94. Fill up a notebook with lists.
Sometimes I come across lists which I want to attempt but aren't really worth sharing on the blog, but I like to attempt them anyway to get myself thinking about things that matter to me. I decided I'd write them down in a notebook to look back on someday. So far I've created a list of 100 Things That Make Me Happy.
95. Complete all four Listography books I own. 0/4
I've completed a few more pages of the Listography and My Future Listography this month, but I've still got lots more left to complete in all four books.
12. Improve a piece of clothing with toucan buttons.
A while ago I bought some amazing toucan buttons after seeing this post, and although I don't have that level of creativity and skill, I finally got round to sewing them on to a simple black cardigan to give it a new lease of life. I love how it looks, although I didn't realise how tatty this cardigan was (I attempted this project in the middle of the night), so I may end up swapping them on to a newer garment later on. More on this project soon.
Goals completed: 1
Goals in progress: 13
So, with one goal completed and thirteen in progress, I think I've got off to a good start so far! I wonder what I'll complete in October...
Do you have a 101 Things in 1001 Days / Mission 101 list? Send me your links, I'd love to see them!

DeleteWow, what a great list! You've made such excellent progress, too... well done! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Corrine!
Deletecute cardi overhaul! the toucans are too cute! it is hard finding the perfect red lippie, skin tone really makes it tricky, you are definitely a busy woman, but it seems there is lots of fun things to do! x x
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm crazy about those toucans. It is hard, but my skin tone seems to work with most reds. Good thing about being so pale! I try to keep myself busy and occupied or I'd go stir crazy! xx
DeleteWell done, you're doing so many things! x x
ReplyDeleteThanks Leah. I need to keep myself occupied with lots of things to stop myself going stir crazy and getting bored. xx
