The 5000 Question Survey: Questions 151-175

It's been quite a while since I last posted an update for The 5000 Question Survey which I (rather foolishly?) chose to challenge myself with last Autumn. I've had this portion of questions sitting half-completed in my drafts for a month or two now, and I'm so glad to have it completed so I can send it on its merry way. Not that I expect anything better with the next twenty-five questions... but, y'know, it's a relief to remove this one from my drafts.

This week, I'm answering questions 151-175 of the 5000. You can catch up on the previous 150 questions via this link, if you would like some more reading material. This week you can find out what the coolest job I've ever worked is; what changes I'm afraid of; and which CDs I could listen to non-stop for a week.

151. What is louder and more annoying: 200 adults talking or one four-year-old screaming?

Definitely the screaming child. It's easily one of the worst noises in existence; especially from a stranger's child.

152. Do you believe the stories about planes, boats and people mysteriously disappearing into the Bermuda triangle?

I can't say I've ever given them much thought, but I'm not sceptical about the stories. Who's to say the sea didn't consume them in a giant whirlpool, or that there's some type of natural force or substance out there to blame that's not yet been discovered by man?

153. Who are you the most jealous of?

I'm not jealous of anyone that I can think of.

154. What is the happiest way you can start your day?

Waking naturally (not by my alarm) to blue skies and bright sunshine beaming through the curtains, and turning up one of my favourite uptempo tunes. I'd be even happier if I was waking up on the day of a concert because on those days I always awake giddy with excitement, and nothing can spoil my mood on those days.

155. Do you ever have moments where you feel like everything is all right in the world?

No, because there are constant reminders everywhere I turn that show me the world is far from all right. Even if my life feels perfect for a moment or two, I know that billions of other people are going through hell every day.

156. Who thinks that you are offensive?

My mother.

157. If you had to teach a class in something, what would you be able to teach people?

Hmm, I doubt I know enough about anything to teach... I could teach you all you need to know about caring for pets (my strong areas are rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, dogs, and fish). I could teach you a bit about visual merchandising and various computer-y things, too.

158. Have you ever had a spiritual experience (an experience that cannot be explained by science)?

I've been known to dream something before it's happened. I don't mean anything poignant or useful like predicting a plane crash or a natural disaster, just that I often dream of random little every day moments that then happen word for word and action for action a week or two later. I always get a little weirded out when the moment arrives, and remember dreaming it.

159. Do you believe that this experience was truly mystical or do you think there is some scientific explanation for it, only you don't know what it is?

I've never really given it much thought, only that I might have a little psychic ability.

160. Do you get offended easily?

I don't think I do these days, but I am offended by the way society treats fat people. I'm offended by anybody who makes a fat joke at someone's expense; by anybody who mocks, taunts, bullies, or threatens a person for simply being fat. I get offended when I see / hear a fat joke on TV, and get so angry that it's still an acceptable form of discrimination / entertainment.

161. Would you still love and stay with your significant other if he or she had to have a breast or testicle removed?

Of course I would! The loss of a body part would never change the way I feel about a person I truly love. It doesn't matter if he has one less testicle (none, three, whatever...); if I really loved the man I would be there to support him and help him through what ever illness or circumstance required the removal in the first place.

162. Do you believe in fate or free will?

As much as I'd love to truly believe in fate, I don't believe our lives are shaped by it. I believe it's our own decisions and actions in life that map out our lives minute by minute, and that it's up to us to make life happen. We have to work hard to get what we want from life. It doesn't just get handed to us on a platter.

163. Do you believe that only boring people get bored?

Mostly, yes, but there are times when it's out of our control. (Say, waiting for a bus without a book or an iPod). There's always a way of fighting boredom, if you just use your imagination or make use of what's available to you.

164. Can life change or are we all stuck in vain?

Life can change in an instance, in both good and bad ways. Some of it's out of our control, but we can also take the reins and change our lives, too, if we want to. We just need to take those steps and work hard to achieve most of them.

165. What changes are you afraid of?

I suppose a part of me is afraid that my current situation will never change; that I'll have to deal with what I'm going through now with my disc injuries for the rest of my life. I'm sure if that turned out to be the case, I'd make peace with it and just live my life as best I could one day at a time, as I do now, but a small part of me, somewhere deep inside, is afraid that the pain and limited mobility will never change.

166. Are you a day person or nocturnal?

I always used to be a day person; I lived for the day light and never slept in past 8am... Now because of pain and medication, I've turned nocturnal. I'm awake all night and sleep from dawn in to the afternoon. I've tried to correct it, but the pain just doesn't let me sleep.

167. What one CD could you listen to for an entire week (no mixed CD’s, it must be an album)?

I'll happily listen to any album by Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, Boyzone, or Ronan Keating non-stop for a week. I honestly can't decide on just one album, so give me an album by any of these guys and I'm set for the week.

Other possibilities: Snow Patrol Eyes Open; Arcade Fire's Funeral; Michael's Jackson's History, Madonna's Immaculate Collection, and The Beatles #1s or 1967-1970.

168. Which is worse, working in retail, food service, or an office?

I've never worked in an office, and honestly, the thought of being stuck behind a desk all day sounds awful. I like to be hands-on; as much as I'm good behind a computer screen; I prefer to do practical work. I did an hour clearing tables in the cafe in the department store I worked in, and it was hell on earth. I never want to work in food service; it's hectic as hell and clearing up other people's food grosses me out. I worked in retail for nine years or so and it's definitely not the most pleasant or easy of jobs either. I'm sure most people who work or have worked in retail will tell you that it's not for the faint hearted. Getting paid minimum wage to work your arse off doing the work load of three people whilst getting treated like shit by customers and treated as a baby-sitting service can be absolutely horrible.

169. What's the coolest job you ever had?

Well, this was technically work experience, but the two weeks I spent working at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park back in 2003 was pretty cool. I got to work alongside zoo keepers looking after all kinds of birds (tropical, birds of prey etc), chimpanzees, seals and sea lions, an assortment of animals in the Children's Farm, and elephants. I got to fly a Harris hawk, go for a walk with three elephants and give one a shower, feed Ribena to a chimp, do tricks with a fully grown sea lion, and handle macaws and African Grey parrots. It was amazing.

170. What is one central idea that your thoughts seem to come back to?

That if I'm ever able to do manual work again, that I should pursue animal care (again), because I was extremely content looking after animals. I never felt that way working in retail. I know I wasted four years when I settled in to retail instead of finding a new role in animal care, and I want to give it another shot.

171. Have you ever wanted to be an actor/tress?

No, never. Never never never! I've always been extremely self-conscious and shy, and I couldn't imagine much worse for me. I hate having all eyes on me, and talking in front of a crowd- no matter how small. Drama classes at school were always met with dread and fear.

172. If you had the power to control one person and make this person do anything you wanted for a whole day, who would you pick and what would they do?

Right now, I would pick Hugh Jackman, as The Drover in the film Australia, and well, I'm sure you can guess the rest ;).

173. What star sign are you and what is your sign like?

I'm a cancer. Cancerians are often said to be: imaginative, over-emotional, moody, loyal, loving, overly-sensitive, devoted, pessimistic, suspicious, born naggers, nurturing, strong-willed, like to get their own way, easily hurt, sympathetic, affectionate, quick to avoid others, and like to avoid confrontation, I can confirm it's all true. I'm the quintessential Cancerian.

174. Did the Blair Witch Project scare you?

I've never seen it.

175. Are you in constant fear of death?

Not at all. The only time I really become anxious about dying is when I'm out on the road, and even then, it's only every now and then. Ever since a teenage colleague from my last retail job died in a car crash a few years ago, I've become so aware of how quickly life can end from one wrong move. It happened just moments after he left work, and he was just eighteen. The fact that something so tragic happened to somebody I knew, made me realise just how fragile life was and that it could happen to any one of us at any moment. That thought has never really gone away.

The 5000 Question Survey Questions 126-150

Morning all!

I've got the next instalment of The 5000 Question Survey for you today. If you want to know what my favourite animated movie is or what my thoughts on Kurt Cobain's suicide are, read on!

126. Would you consider yourself to be wise?

I think I'm reasonably wise, but not about everything and I still have a lot to learn.

127. Have you ever given or received a lap dance?

I can't say I have.

128. Have you ever spoken to a homeless person?

I'm sure I have, but I can't think of any examples except for when I've bought a Big Issue in town.

129. Would you ever creep into the subway tunnels to go exploring?

No! Have you not seen Cloverfield, or Creep??

130. If you could add 70 years to your life but only by making some random person die 70 years sooner would you?

No I wouldn't, because I'd spend those seventy years feeling so guilty for taking seventy years of life from someone and their loved ones.

131. Can you finish any of the following lyrics?

A: Nothing to kill or die for... And no religion, too.

B: Late comings with the late comin' stretcher... I don't have a clue.

C: I could make a film and make you my star... I don't have a clue.

132. Were you ever with someone while they died?

No.

133. Would you rather be a world political leader or a rock star?

I'd prefer to be a rock star. Nobody likes politicians and their work seems very, very dull. At least being a rock star would have its perks... even if I do sound like a bag of cats being run over by a lawn-mower...

134. Have you ever given someone a love letter that you wrote?

Nope, but I used to be the messenger giving letters from my best friend to boys she liked, back at school. She once had me hide in bushes (with her) until her love interest walked past, and had me scurry out and hand him a letter and a packet of love hearts! Awkward!

135. Have you ever sent someone a surprise though the mail?

Oh, countless times! I still send things to my best friend every now and then, if I see something I know she'll love or want. I love treating my friends and family!

136. Are you looking forward to any concerts right now?

Yes, I've got tickets to see Boyzone in December and Fall Out Boy in March. I can't wait, and hope I make it to both.

137. Of all animated movies, which is the best one you've ever seen?

I'm not sure I could choose just one. My all time favourites are Alice in Wonderland, Pocahontas, Beauty and the Beast, Robin Hood, and The Rescuers. I grew up on Disney films, watching everything from Pete's Dragon to Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Three Lives of Thomasina and The Lion King. I still love watching them every now and then today. I love most Disney films, if I'm honest. I adore Up, although the beginning always makes me bawl, and you can't go wrong with Despicable Me, Shrek, or Anastasia.

138. What are the best bands or songs to listen to while driving?

I don't drive yet, so I don't often get a choice in what we listen to, but I love hearing: The Beatles, eighties / early nineties Madonna, movie and musical soundtracks (good to sing along to!), Michael Jackson, old eighties and nineties tunes, and that sort of thing. If I had control of the music, we'd be listening to Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Snow Patrol's Eyes Open album, Kings of Leon, Linkin Park, Ronan Keating, The Killers, Evanescence, and some Arcade Fire- mostly up beat cheery tunes to sing along to and make the journeys go fast, and old favourites.

139. What do you think is the most amazing thing that anyone has ever accomplished?

Oh, where do I start?! I personally think the camera is a pretty amazing accomplishment. It's hard to believe we can capture a specific moment in exact detail, in all the correct colours, and in just a split second to cherish forever. I can't actually get my head around how that's even possible! It's also insane how we can talk to someone on the other side of the world via a small hand held device! Or that we can fly around the world, or out in to space. Brain surgery is also impressive. Well, all our medicinal solutions are, really. Transplants, skin grafts, medical cures... the list goes on. Our capabilities as humans are just astounding.

140. What could a member of the opposite sex do to impress you?

Take me to see one of my favourite bands play live. Or better still, be in to a band, book, or movie I love... or share some other interest. I like people who are just themselves, down to earth, friendly, kind, and generally a bit silly. And tattoos always help, of course.

141. About how many emails do you get a day?

Quite a few, but I'm not sure how many. I have three email accounts, and don't always manage to check them every day.

How many of those emails are junk mail?

There's always a fair few! "Dear friend,  my name is Julio, and my pet tarantula has cancer. I cannot afford the six million pound treatment that is needed to save him. Please send me five billion pounds, and the lord will reward you with eternal love...". Sound familiar? I get a dozen of these ones a day.

How many of them are forwards?

Only a handful these days, now most of that sort of thing is done over social media. Most of my emails are newsletters and promos from online stores, of which I get dozens daily.

142. What's your favourite thing to do online besides write in your diary and hang out at this site? (Meaning Livejournal).

I love to blog and read other blogs; find inspiration in the form of images and quotes through Pinterest and Tumblr; shop and window shop; and catch up with friends on Facebook.

143. Do you believe Kurt Cobain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Cobain) killed himself or was it a conspiracy?

Of course I believe he killed himself. I think the only people who would believe his death to be a conspiracy are fans who can't accept that he died and at his own hands. Suicide or accidental death in young celebrities has become far too common an occurrence now and it just seems that celebrity life can come at a price for the ones who can't deal with the life style. And for Kurt, celebrity life was lethal.

144. Have you ever though about hitchhiking across the country?

In this day and age? No. No, no, no, no, no! There are too many psychopaths in this world, and I'd no doubt find myself in a car with one of them. Is it even legal to hitch hike in England anymore? My Dad used to hitch hike up and down the country to see my Mum or work in the seventies, and one time he found himself in a car with a coffin in the back!

145. Who would you bring with you on this kind of a road trip?

Theoretically, if it was safe to hitch hike, I'd bring along my best friend.

146. Of the following, which word best describes you: accurate, bold,
charming, dependable.

Accurate, because I'm always right! ;) I'm definitely not bold or charming, and I'm not sure I can be classed as dependable.

147. If you are single, at about what age do you think you will be ready to settle down and get married? If you are married, how old were you at the time?

When I was little, I assumed I'd be married with kids by now living a fairytale life happily ever after... but I've also never believed anybody would ever want to marry me. Now I'm 28... I'm not sure if it'll ever happen for me... I'm not sure I can have kids... but who knows what the future will bring... there's a lot of years ahead of me yet!

148. Do you often wonder, when you say goodbye to people, if it is the last time you will ever see them?

No, I don't think I've ever thought like that.

149. What movie are you most looking forward to seeing when it comes out?

The second part to the Hunger Games series, Catching Fire.

150. What is your quest?

To make a full recovery from my back injuries, so I can live my life to the fullest every day, and live my life well...

So, that's it for another week. If you want to give this survey a go yourself, you can find all the questions to the challenge here, and you can also catch up on all my previous answers via my 5000 Question Survey tag.

The 5000 Question Survey: Questions 101-125

Hi guys,

I've got the next instalment of The 5000 Question Survey for you today. I've now reached questions 101-125. If you want to catch up on the first 100 questions answered, you can catch up on them here, and if you want to give the challenge a go yourself, then you'll find all 5000 questions via this link.

101. What does happiness/joy feel like physically?

Happiness feels like warmth, weightlessness, and a comforting hug.

102. List five people you love starting with the one you love the absolute most.

That would be my best friend, Angela, and I guess my family- my two sisters, and my Mum and Dad (even if they do all drive me nuts). I won't put them in a specific order to save getting murdered in my sleep.

103. How many movies have you gone to see this month?

Zero. I've only made it to the cinema once this year, because I can't sit for very long due to the pain from my back injuries. I'm hoping to make it to the second Hunger Games film when it comes out next month, though. I'm willing to put myself through the pain and discomfort for it. I can't wait to see it!

104. If you could have 3 wishes...but none of them could be for yourself, what would you wish for?

1. I'd wish for an end to size discrimination, so that all sizes would be treated equally in society and the world of fashion.

2. I'd wish for all pain, illness, and suffering to be removed from the world for good.

3. And I'd wish for financial security and wealth for my family and friends for life.

105. In what ways do you relax and de-stress when you are really tense?

I've always found that listening to music helps me to de-stress and calms me down when something's annoyed or upset me. There's a song out there for every mood. I also find writing helps, whether I'm emptying my thoughts and feelings on to a piece of paper, a blog post, a social media platform, or whatever. I don't even have to share what I've written, just releasing the thoughts from my head lifts the weight away.

106. How much money would it take to get you to drive to school naked in the springtime and get out of the car?

There isn't enough money in the world to make me want to do that!

107. Have you ever killed an animal?

No, I could never intentionally kill an animal. The thought makes me sick to my stomach.

Oh, wait, does hoovering up spiders count? And feeding live mealworms to reptiles?

108. Have you ever lost someone close to you?

I've lost friends as life has progressed and people have moved away or moved on, (a part of life living in an RAF community), but I'm fortunate to have only experienced two deaths in my family up to this point; my Grandad and my Nan. Touch wood that's how it'll stay for a long time.

109. What do you think of cloning?

I think it's amazing that we're capable of creating a living creature this way, but I'm not so sure it's right to do so. We're not meant to live forever- or we already would, and when our time is up, our time is up. The idea of playing God and cloning a person or a pet to, say, bring them back as a replacement is creepy, and I don't think it's right to clone for medicine, research, or farming, either. (Supposing these reasons were all being carried out).

110. Do you read or watch TV more often?

I love to read, and prefer it to watching TV, but I probably watch TV more. It's often on for background noise, and as a means of keeping myself occupied.

111. With all this talk of terrorism going around are you willing to sacrifice rights and freedoms for increased safety?

It all depends on what kind of rights and freedoms we're talking about, but yes, I'd be willing to make a few sacrifices to ensure my safety. I can live with only taking little bottles of shampoo on a plane, and travelling without scissors in my hand luggage. However, I would never let the fear of terrorism stop me from living my life the way I want to. The moment we fear then is the moment they win.

112. What is the punishment you would come up with for Osama Bin Laden if you caught him alive?

Well, since he's already been found and killed, there isn't much point in this question, but I think he deserved to suffer in the worst way possible for what he was a part of.

113. Have you ever named an individual part of your body?

No!

114. Have you ever been on the radio or on TV?

I had a request of mine read out on the radio by Ronan Keating a couple of years ago... does that count? He said my full name, so I think it should!

115. Have you ever won a lottery, or sweepstakes?

I buy scratch cards every now and then and have had a pound here, and a twenty quid note there... nothing spectacular. I never remember to play the actual Lotto.

116. Have you ever won a contest or competition?

I've won a few over the last couple of years, and before that I never won anything in my life. I won a meet and greet with Boyzone and a pair of gig tickets to see them play live with my best friend in 2009, which was the best experience ever! I then won a signed Ronan Keating calendar later that year. This year I've won two blog giveaways- (lots of goodies, and a New Look voucher), and a beautiful Zatchels satchel.

117. Do you like to watch The Joy of Painting show with Bob Ross (check out this link if you don't know who he is.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Ross_(painter)?

Never watched it.

118. Do you know what your grandparents and your great grand parents did for a living?

I don't know an awful lot about this, actually. My paternal grandfather was in the RAF; I don't know if he had another profession before retirement. He's ninety-four, and probably retired before I was even born. My maternal grandfather was a ship builder, but I don't know if he ever did any other kind of work. He died of lung cancer aged sixty-seven* (*I think) when I was just eleven, so I never had the chance to ask him questions like this. I'm not sure if my Nan (paternal grandmother) ever worked, or what my Nana (maternal grandmother) did. I only remember her working in a chip shop when I was little and she was nearing retirement. I don't know anything about my great grandparents at all. I need to start asking questions!

119. Is there anything really interesting in your family history?

My maternal grandad was once interviewed twice by Police during the Yorkshire Ripper investigation. I'm told that the police went door to door interviewing men in Sunderland, and something about his Mackem accent sparked them to talk to him twice.

120. Is there anyone you trust completely?

My best friend. I can tell her anything.

121. Have you ever lost someone without having the chance to say goodbye?

My Grandad. He died of lung cancer in a hospice when I was just eleven, and my parents decided to (understandably) protect my sisters and I from seeing him so unwell in his last few days. I  saw him for the last time at Christmas about two weeks before he passed, though, and we drove the two hundred and fifty miles back again a week later to be with my Nana for his final few days. I was too scared to go to his funeral, but I still miss him terribly.

122. How do you feel about women in politics?

Just the same as I feel about men in politics. I've never been all that interested in politics as it often just bores me to tears, but women have as much right to be in politics as men do. Gender shouldn't be an issue. It doesn't sway my opinions on a politician- their policies and actions do!

123. Would you rather have an indoor Jacuzzi or an outdoor pool?

I would love to have an outdoor pool, even if I do live in not-so-sunny England. I've always longed to have my own pool. It would be heavenly in the summer.

124. What things are you interested in that you study or read about on your own?

Well, there's fashion and beauty, which I read about on a daily basis through blogs, blogging, magazines, and the like. I'm naturally curious when it comes to tragedy, war, and disaster, and am especially inquisitive about the Titanic and the Holocaust. I find survivor's testimonies heart breakingly moving, yet also interesting. I love reading for pleasure, especially horror, thrillers, and post-apocalyptic novels, and I like learning about animals and arts and crafts.

125. Would you consider yourself to be intelligent?

I'm not sure I'm intelligent, but I'm definitely not stupid. Well, most of the time!

The 5000 Question Survey: Questions 76-100

Hey guys,

I've got another installement of the 5000 Question Survey for you today, and today I'm sharing questions 76-100. I'm just going to dive right in because there's already so much to read.

76. Do you prefer Disney or Warner Brothers?

Disney, without a doubt. You can't go wrong with a classic Disney film. I've loved them pretty much all my life.

77. What is the first animal you would run to see if you went to the zoo?

I'm always eager to go see the tapirs and giraffes.

78. Would you consider yourself to be romantic?

I think so... not that there's much romance happening around these parts right now.

79. If the earth stopped rotating would we all fly off?

Why the hell are you asking me? I'm not a scientist!

80. What is the one thing that you love to do so much that you would make sacrifices to be able to do it?

Going to gigs and concerts. It's my favourite pasttime above everything else, and I've been known to do whatever I can to be able to go see my favourite bands play live. The sacrifices are always worth it.

81. If you (and everyone) had to lose one right or freedom, but you could pick which one everyone had to lose, what would you pick?

The right to keep animals as pets. I don't think everybody should automatically have that right. I would change the law so pet owners would have to meet certain criteria and be home-checked before being allowed to keep animals. Perhaps that way there'd be less animal abuse and neglect in the world. I don't understand why some people buy pets, only to get bored with it a week later, starve it. and leave it to die.

82. If you had to choose would you live on the equator or at the North Pole?

I would probably choose to live at the equator. It would be lovely to live somewhere tropical where I could swim in the sea and wear dresses without freezing to death! Could I holiday at the North Pole?

83. Would you rather give up listening to music or watching television?

Watching television. I could never give up listening to music because I love it so much and can't function without it, but TV is mostly a load of crap. I would still be able to watch DVDs, though, right?

84. What do you think makes someone a hero?

When someone does something selfless to help another person or animal to save them from harm, or come to their aide when they've been harmed, are in distress, or are in desperate need, even if it isn't their job to do so.

85. What cartoon would you like to be a character in?

Bob's Burgers! I love Tina, Louise, and Gene... I think I'm a mixture of all three of them!

86. Name one thing that turns your stomach:

The smell of bacon. It makes me feel physically sick.

87. What was the last thing you paid for?

I bought a Christmas present for my brother-in-law over the weekend.

88. Are you a coupon clipper?

I generally only use coupons I come across that are offering a discount in clothing stores I shop at. I rarely remember to use other coupons for anything else, even when I've got them. So, no!

89. Get anything good in the mail recently?

The other day I had a book, two cardigans, a Christmas present for my brother in law, and some look books arrive for me on the same day. It felt a little like Christmas.

90. Which would you rather take as a gym class...dancing, sailing, karate, or bowling?

Bowling would be so much fun! Or sailing! Why weren't these things options when I was at school??

91. In Star Trek people 'beam' back and forth between different places. What this means is they stand in a little tube and their molecules are deconstructed and sent to another tube somewhere else where they are reassembled. Only problem is when the molecules are deconstructed the person is dead. When they are put back together it is only a clone that has all the dead person's memories. So...
Is the person who gets beamed the same person on both ends?

A. Yes, because the molecules made the person who they were, and they were just travelling in a different form between deconstruction and reconstruction. B. Who cares?

92. What insects are you afraid of?

Spiders, Daddy Long Legs, moths, and anything winged that dive bombs me. I'm not keen on moths because of that reason.

93. If you could print any phrase on a T-shirt, what would it say?

I wasn't supposed to put beef in the trifle!

94. What's the most eccentric thing you have ever worn?

Nothing in particular springs to mind, (I've probably suppressed a few memories!) but I think a lot of people would call my style eccentric at times. I'm almost always clothed in bold colour and random prints, with handbags shaped like animals, and the most random jewellery. My style is a bit different to your average English lady.

95. If you could pick one food that you could eat all you wanted but it would have no effect on how much you weigh, what food would it be?

That's a toss up between custard, bread, and Chinese food. Just not together.

96. What are your parents interested in?

My Dad loves to play golf. He enjoys going to auctions and selling his bargain finds on. He loves anything vehicle related and can talk about them for hours (which bores my Mother to tears), and he's always loved music- mostly music he listened to growing up in the fifties and sixties.

My Mum enjoys cross stitching, which is something I remember her doing pretty much all my life. She loves to read, has lately become addicted to Candy Crush on her iPad (seriously, when did my Mum become so modern?), really loves jewellery-especially earrings and Pandora, and also loves music.

Between the two of them, I grew up on The Beatles, Elvis, Motown, Luther Vandross, The Beach Boys, and so many others from their generation. My Dad loves the classics, but my Mum is often found listening to someone more modern.

97. Have you ever caught an insect and kept it as a pet?

Not that I can remember. I'm not a fan of insects in the slightest.

Have you ever caught and tamed a wild animal?

I've cared for a lot of animals in my time, but mostly pets, farm birds, and zoo critters. I can't remember looking after a wild animal for long. I caught a shrew at work, once, when I worked in a pet shop in a department store. It suddenly appeared in the middle of the department, and I think it had been posioned, so I scooped it up, and popped him in an empty hamster tank in the back room. I gave it some food, water, and shelter for a few hours, and then released it out in to a field. Killing it would probably have been kinder, but I couldn't ever kill a living thing on purpose.

98. What is more helpful to you, wishes or plans?

Plans. As much as I wish that certain things would (or would not) happen, nothing ever comes from wishing. Plans make things happen; plans make life happen. Plans can give me something to look forward to, and memories to look back on. I'd rather make plans than sit back and have faith in wishes.

99. When do you feel your life energy the strongest?

When I'm at a concert; when I'm swimming in the sea; when I'm on holiday; and during the bad times. When life's a struggle, I find myself determined to put up a fight to get through it.

100. You are spending the night alone in the woods and may bring only 3 items with you. What do you bring?

1. Matches, so I can make a fire for warmth and perhaps cook food over it.
2. A tent for shelter from the elements.
3. Water, so I don't die of dehydration. Not that that would happen in one night.

I'd fashion a weapon out of a large tree branch just in case I need to fend off the psychopaths.

5000 Question Survery: Questions 51-75

Hey guys,

I've got the third instalment of the 5000 Question Survey for you today. Today I'm answering questions 51-75. You can read my answers to questions 1-25 here and 26-50 here if you're at all curious, and you can find all the questions to the survey here if you fancy giving the challenge a go yourself.

51. Make up a definition for the following silly words...

Fruitgoogle: The act of googling fruit on the Internet. As one often does.

Ambytime: A person located along side time.

Asscactus: A cactus commonly stuck where the sun don't shine.

52. What was the last thing you made with your own two hands?

I'm currently working on a Christmas cross stitch picture, and the other day I customized a cardigan with new toucan buttons.

53. What was your favourite toy as a child?

When I was six, I was given a stuffed rabbit teddy, which was brown and had the longest lopped ears I'd ever seen. I named him George, and would take him everywhere. It's still close to my heart today. I also loved Polly Pockets, Pound Puppies, Puppy in My Pocket, Sylvanian Families, and a beautiful dollshouse which my late grandfather made with his own two hands.

54. How many TVs are in your house?

We have at least four, but possibly five or six if we still have our two old TV / VCR combos stored somewhere.

55. What is your favourite thing to do outside?

That's a tie between going to outdoor concerts to watch my favourite bands play live, and going to the beach to swim and body board in the sea.

56. How do you feel when you see a rainbow?

I still look at rainbows in awe and think how incredible it is that all those colours exist naturally in the world. Rainbows make me smile.

57. Have you ever dreamt a dream that came true?

Yes. I've had numerous dreams which have then happened word for word and action for action in real life, usually within a week or month later. These dreams are rarely anything interesting or monumental; just a snippet of a future conversation or occurrence in my every day life, but when the moment comes, I'm always a bit taken a back with de ja vu knowing I dreamt it first.

58. Have you ever been to a psychic / tarot reader?

No, but I have witnessed both of my sisters get a reading a couple of times. I'm not sure if I believe in either profession, or not.

59. What is your idea of paradise?

My idea of paradise... That would be a place where I could live out my days watching my favourite bands and singers perform live every day from the front row of the audience with my concert buddies. A place where I could live near the sea and swim in it all day every day, if I wanted to... Perhaps I should alter that to a paradise where I could go to concerts in the sea, with the band performing before me on a floating stage?? That would be heavenly. And weird.

Paradise would also be a place with no pain, a never-ending walk in wardrobe filled with amazing colourful printed dresses, lots of colour, cute critters running around, and my favourite male singers and actors tending to my every need (topless, of course)!

60. Do you believe in god, and if so, what is he / she / it like?

No, I don't believe in God. I was raised Catholic and even went to a Catholic Primary school, as my Dad's side of the family are very religious, but it's never been something that I believed in or showed any interest in. I'm an atheist, but I respect other people's religions and religious views.

61. Do you believe in hell?

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Like I said above, I'm an atheist, but I'm also a believer of anything being possible. Sometimes I like to think there is life after death, whether it be in the form of reincarnation, or going on to another place, perhaps like a heaven or a hell. I mean, most of us hope that death isn't the end of life for us, right? As much as I hope we all go on to a better place after death, I can't reject the idea of there being an eternity of misery and horror waiting for us, either.

62. What one thing have you done that most people haven't?

I've been for a walk with three large adult Asian elephants! And, FYI, they walk fast. I blistered up my feet!

63. What is the kindest thing you have ever done?

I have absolutely no idea. You'd have to ask someone else who knows me or has met me, I guess.

64. Are you a patient person?

It depends on the situation, but generally... no! I'm terribly impatient in most situations, if truth be told. I get annoyed with people who take forever to do something that should take a split second, I'm impatient with people who are late or walk slowly in front of me. But... I am patient when it comes to things like queueing, customer service mistakes, issues with my back pain and my situation, awaiting late parcels, traffic jams and those sort of things. I am understanding in a lot of situations that would test other people's patience.

65. What holiday should exist but doesn't?

Christmas Two!

66. What holiday shouldn't exist but does?

Valentine's Day. Eurgh!

67. What's the best joke you ever heard?

I'm not very good at remembering jokes. Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

68. Where is the most fun place you have EVER been?

For me, that's any arena of theatre I've been to see Boyzone and Ronan Keating perform live in. Their concerts have left me with some of the most fun and hilarious moments with my best friend and concert buddies over the years. We always end up giggling away and having a ball, and the times we've had interaction with the band members on stage have mostly been hilarious. Glasgow SECC in 2011 was pretty memorable! To be honest, I get the same rush from seeing any of my favourite bands in concert, and from musicals at the theatre, too. I just love live music!

69. Is your hair natural or dyed?

My hair is dyed, which I think is pretty obvious considering the brightness of the red. I use Schwarzkopf's Live XXL hair dye in Real Red and my hair has been this colour for two and a half years. I'm naturally a dark brunette.

70. Do you have any deep dark secrets or are you pretty much up front?

I don't have any deep dark secrets, but I've spent my whole life feeling self conscious of people judging me, my interests and my actions negatively, so I do tend to keep certain things to myself or between a select few. I don't lie to people, I'm up front, and I don't keep the important things from those who need to know, but I don't feel the need to announce my every action to my Facebook friends and the rest of the world. There are just some things that nobody else needs to know.

71. What is under your bed right now?

Art and craft supplies, a hard drive, a metal tin full of buttons and sewing things, my memory box, a box of documents, a laptop case, a few cardboard folders filled with documents, drawing pins that fell and scattered, tissue paper for gift wrapping and a Christmas present or two.

72. If you were in the Land of Oz would you want to live there or go home?

I'd rather live in Wonderland. The wicked witch's flying monkeys have always freaked me out!

73. If you drive do you frequently speed?

I don't drive yet, but I doubt I'd make a habit of speeding. I like the thrill of a fast car, but I'm also too aware of the dangers on our roads and constantly worry about being in an accident when I'm in a car. So many fatal accidents have happened in my area over the years, including one which resulted in the death of a teenager who worked for the same company as I just half a mile after leaving work. He was eighteen and died instantaneously. I've not felt safe on the roads since that happened three or four years ago.

74. What is the world's best song to dance to?

I'm not much of a dancer (at all), but the Black Eyed Peas 'I Gotta Feelin' usually livens me up.

75. What song was on the last time you danced with someone?

The last time I did anything remotely resembling dancing would have been at a Ronan Keating concert in January with my best friend. The last song of the show was Life is a Rollercoaster, and I was holding on to the chair in front of me to keep myself on my feet, but there may have been a bit of swaying and bobbing my head involved! Oh what an image I'm painting for you!

The Five Thousand Question Survey: Questions 26-50

Hey guys,

I've got the second part of The 5000 Question Survey, which I'm attempting to work my way through, to share with you today. Today I've answered questions 26-50.

I'm still not sure whether to blog my way through the challenge here or not; are you guys interested in reading this kind of post and on a regular basis? My other thoughts are to blog through it on my inactive Livejournal account, or perhaps create a page for this on the sidebar to add to each week. I'd love it if you'd let me know what you think!

26. Who has done something today to show they care about you?

A good friend messaged me and told me she missed our chats. (It's been a few weeks since we last had a good catch up via text).

27. Do you have a lot to learn?

Of course. Nobody can know everything. We're all constantly learning and evolving until the day we die.

28. If you could learn how to do three things just by wishing and not working what would they be?

A. How to fix my back and take the pain away.

B. How to earn a small fortune.

C. How to drive a car.

29. Which do you remember the longest: what other people say, what other people do or how other people make you feel?

I remember all three, but I never forget how people make me feel, nor do I forget nasty things that are said to me. I'm quite a sensitive person, and I do take things personally and to heart.

30. What are the key ingredients to having a good relationship?

Trust, honesty, support, humour, give and take, love, friendship, and fun.

31. What 3 things do you want to do before you die?

A. See the Northern Lights.

B. Go whale watching.

C. Visit Italy.

32. What 3 things would you want to die to avoid doing?

A. Burning in a fire.

B. Allowing physical harm or murder to happen to another person because of me.

C. Handling a tarantula.

33. Is there a cause you believe in more than any other cause?

I feel quite strongly about animal rights and against animal cruelty. It upsets me to think of animals being abused and killed whether it's for animal testing for cosmetics or science, for sport, for fashion, inhumanely for food, by pet owners, just for the hell of it, or whatever the reason. It baffles me how people can be so cruel to another living creature.  I prefer to use cruelty free beauty products as much as possible, and have always given my pets the care they deserve.

34. What does each decade make you think of:

The 19..

20's: The Wall Street Crash, The Depression, the 'Roaring Twenties', Flapper Girls, bob haircuts, jazz music, silent movies, Charlie Chaplin, The Charleston.

70's: Disco, R&B, Motown, Abba, The Jackson 5, The Supremes, glam rock, punk rock, The Clash, hippies, platform shoes, floral prints, flared trousers, beards, side burns, long straight hair, lava lamps, Mohawks and tartan.

80's: Madonna, big polka dots, big hair, mullets, neon, leg warmers, good music, movie montages, Bon Jovi, Band Aid / Live Aid, the Chernobyl disaster, Rubik's Cubes, Arcade Computer Games, Michael Jackson, Dirty Dancing, Footloose, Tears For Fears.

90's: My childhood and early teens, boybands, Boyzone mania, Britpop, Blur, Pulp, Oasis, Top of the Pops, Smash Hits Magazine, Pogs, Eternal, En Vogue, TLC, smiley faces, troll dolls, crop tops, baggy high-waisted jeans, a line skirts, Adidas poppers, Hooch, Tamagotchis, Gladiators, Ceefax, Home Alone, sun moon and stars prints, recording the Top 40 on to cassettes, making mix tapes, forever untangling cassette tapes, Live and Kicking, Byker Grove, the death of Princess Diana, electric blue mascara, hair mascaras, N Sync, Backstreet Boys, Sonic the Hedgehog, Saved By The Bell, Sister Sister, Sabrina the Teenage Witch... I could go on!

The 20..

00's: The 9/11 terrorist attacks, the 7/7 bombings, dirty denim, hankerchief tops, emo music, Friends Reunited, Internet that took an hour to connect to (and hogged the phone line), Ugg boots, Livejournal, the evolution of mobile phones and digital cameras, the deaths of Stephen Gately, Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy, and Heath Ledger,

10's (so far): Selfies, social media, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, the duck face (groan), iPhones, gadgets, terrible music, diverse fashion, amazing animal prints on clothes (animal motifs, not the patterns of their skin / fur),  dresses, bloggers, plus size fashion expanding and improving, celebrity child abuse scandals, the death of Amy Winehouse.

35: Which decade do you feel the most special connection to and why?

From my life time, I'm definitely most connected to the nineties which was my childhood and teen years from ages five to fifteen. It was a great time to be alive and I have a lot of happy memories connected to those years. Although, I often wish I had been the age I am now in the forties of fifties, because I love the fashion and I guess I'm a little old fashioned in some ways at heart.

36. What is your favourite oldie / classic rock song?

Any of these...

Billy Idol's Dancing With Myself.
INXS's Never Tear Us Apart.
Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart.
Tears For Fears's Everybody Wants to Rule the World.
Queen's Under Pressure, I Want To Break Free, and Radio Ga Ga.
Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark.
Bon Jovi's Livin on a Prayer.
The Beatles The Fool on the Hill, A Day in the Life, and Lady Madonna.

37. What country do you live in and who is the leader of that country.

I live in England and our Prime Minister is David Cameron.

If you could say any sentence to the current leader of your country what would it be?

How do you sleep at night?

38: What's your favourite TV channel to watch in the middle of the night?

I can usually be found watching E4, BBC3 or Food Network in the middle of the night.

39. What Disney villain are you most like and why?

I've spent ages trying to answer this question, and I've really no idea. I don't think I'm like any of them. I'm going to go with The Queen of Hearts from the Alice in Wonderland cartoon, as I have high standards, and a short temper- but not as bad as her!

40: Have you ever been a girl scout?

No, but I was a Brownie, if that counts?

41. If you were travelling to another continent would you rather fly or take a boat?

I'd rather take a boat. I love being out on the sea. The views are amazing, being on board is far more relaxing than flying, and I'm generally quite content out on the water.

42. Why is the sky blue during the day and black at night?

Why is the grass green? Why anything?

43. What does your name mean?

Louise means "famous warrior".

44. Would you rather explore the deeps of the ocean or outer space?

I'm curious about what's out there in outer space, especially beyond our own galaxy, but until we develop a fast form of space travel, there wouldn't be much exploring, just a lot of travelling. So, I'm going to say the oceans. They're filled with amazing creatures, and probably dozens if not hundreds of animals yet to be discovered so exploring them would be far more fascinating and productive. I'd still like to explore outer space, though.

45. Word association:

What is the first word that comes to mind when you see the word:

Air: Plane

Meat: Cleaver

Different: Me

Pink: Panther

Deserve: Karma

White: Snow

Elvis: Presley

Magic: Man

Heart: Beat

Clash: (ing) Colours

Pulp: Fiction

46. If you could meet any person in the world who is dead who would you want it to be?

I would have loved to have met Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley.

47. What if you could meet anyone alive?

I've been fortunate to meet and spot quite a few celebrities over the last decade, from Boyzone to Ronnie Barker, but let's think... I would love to meet Dawn French, Tom Hanks, Mike Shinoda, Fall Out Boy, Stephen King, Liam Neeson, Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Peter Kay, Omid Djalili, Caleb and Nathan Followill, Colin Firth, Johnny Depp, Naveen Andrews, Leonardo Di Caprio, Kate Winslet, Channing Tatum... the list goes on.

48. Is there a movie that you love so much you could watch it everyday?

Yes, and on occasion, I have done. It's Titanic and I've been a bit obsessed with it since I was eleven.

49. You are going to be stuck alone in an elevator for a week. What do you bring to do?

You mean, after I've had a panic attack about being trapped? (I'm really claustrophobic). I'd bring a fully charged Kindle and a few paperbacks to see me through most of the week. When I start reading I can be engrossed for hours. I'd have to bring a fully charged iPod for some music- I can't live without music; a notebook or two and a pen for writing down blog posts and creative writing; and perhaps bring in my disc injury journal and craft supplies to do a little art journaling to pass the time.

50. Have you ever saved someone's life or had your life saved?

I saved a starling that was stuck head down in a bird feeder, once- does that count?
