Watch Movies Online With Blinkbox

I was recently contacted by the lovely people at Blinkbox, and asked if I would like to try out their services. As a big movie fan, I was more than happy to oblige, and very excited to give their website a try.

I had heard of Blinkbox prior to this invitation, but I'll admit I had never visited their website, or even realised what they offered.

What I discovered was that Blinkbox is a website where you can legally watch movies online. What separates them from most movie streaming companies is that they're a no subscription service. It's much like a video rental store; you just pay for the movie you want to watch, when you want to watch it. If you're anything like me, then you'll have commitment issues when it comes to signing on the dotted line and wasting money on films you never watch, so being able to pay when I can afford to watch appealed to me instantly. The rental prices are reasonable, and with most titles you can choose to rent or buy. Rentals are stored in your Blinkbox library for 30 days, and you're given 48 hours after clicking play to view it as many times as you wish, which I feel is generous and adequate time to watch in full.

It took me less than a minute to create an account, which is required to create a library where your rentals and purchases are stored.

Blinkbox offer a wide range of movies and TV shows, including all the latest blockbusters and new releases. There are a wide range of genres to browse from, and there are also many available to watch for free. I found it a little difficult to browse at times, but there is a search bar on the home page which makes life easier if you're looking to watch a particular title.

Another appealing trait is that no downloading is required to watch, and you can view them on your PC or Mac, iPad, Xbox 360, and even on your TV. I watched on my laptop and was impressed with the picture quality. I'm happy to report that not once did I have issues with buffering.

I chose to rent Taken, and The Lucky One, and I'm still undecided as to which film to use my last code on. Any recommendations?

Taken

Do you ever find yourself with a real craving for a particular film? I do, and lately I've been craving Taken. I've watched it a couple of times before, but for some reason I still don't own a copy so this became the obvious choice for my first rental.

It's basically about a father whose teenage daughter is kidnapped in Paris by traffickers. The father, Bryan, played by Liam Neeson, is an ex CIA agent who flies to Paris and uses his special skills and an impressive amount of violence to try to track down his daughter Kim, played by Maggie Grace. It's fast paced and full of suspense. It's one of my favourite action films, and if you like action, this is the film for you!

The Lucky One

The Lucky One is yet another Nicholas Sparks romance novel adaption. For those who have been living under a rock for the last several years or so, Nicholas Sparks is the author behind The Notebook and Dear John. Even though his adaptations all seem to share a similar story line, I would be lying if I said I didn't love them. I'm a sucker for some romance and a bit of eye candy.

I watched The Lucky One tonight, and I loved it! It's about a man called Logan, played by Zac Efron, who is serving in Iraq as a marine, and finds a photograph on the ground after a raid. He asks around the squadron, but nobody claims the photo, so he makes it his mission to find the woman when he returns to America. The movie contains a lot of romance, and I may now have a small crush on Zac Efron... When did he turn in to such a good looking twenty-five year old?? He's only two years younger than me, so it's okay for me to admit that, right? Right?

Anyway, I'd recommend this film if you love The Notebook and Dear John. I need to add this to my DVD collection now.

So, overall, I was very impressed with Blinkbox. I shall definitely be using their website again in the future (I'm certain it'll be often). I only wish I'd discovered them sooner, as due to my back injuries I've had to miss out on over a year of cinema trips and DVD rentals to see the latest releases. Blinkbox is the perfect alternative for me, and equally great for those who like to watch new movies without leaving the comfort of their own homes with no subscriptions and no fuss.

Why don't you stay in with your friends or family and watch movies online tonight?
