L'Occitane En Provence Beauty Advent Calendar Christmas 2015

Last week I treated myself to the L'Occitane En Provence beauty advent calendar and now that it's here, I thought I'd give you a sneak peek, and my first impressions of it.

L'Occitane is one of my favourite beauty brands, so I was ridiculously excited when I heard they were releasing their first 24 day advent calendar this year. The thought of counting down the days 'til Christmas with a different L'Occitane product every day was so tempting that I stalked their website until it became available, and quickly snapped one up when it did.

A few days later it arrived on my doorstep, so carefully wrapped in yellow tissue paper. It was so beautifully wrapped that just opening the box was a treat itself. I'm still really impressed with the care and effort that went in to shipping it.

As soon as I unboxed the advent calendar, it was love at first sight. The design is gorgeous- but I didn't expect anything less because L'Occitane products always have the prettiest packaging.

The illustration on the front of the box is of a French street decorated for Christmas, with a lady heading towards a cheerful yellow L'Occitane shop.

The calendar comes tied with a festive red ribbon, and the sides are illustrated with Christmas garlands.

Once you untie the ribbon, the calendar opens up like a book, and reveals twenty-four cardboard windows and a beautifully illustrated Christmas scene. The colourful illustration has clearly been designed to look like a French street, with shutters over the windows, and a stylish lady coming out of a L'Occitane boutique with arms full of bags. The building is adorned with Christmas decorations, and if you look in the windows, you'll see people celebrating Christmas, and other little festive scenes. It's so pretty, and it will look lovely when it's on display with the rest of the Christmas decorations in December. (Apologies for the crap quality of these photos; I can't get the colours to look good, no matter what settings I try).

On the back of the packaging is a full list of everything included in the advent calendar. Inside you'll find 24 irresistible surprises, including 17 of L'Occitane's lovely beauty products, and a further 7 Provencal festive treats to help you pamper your way through 'til Christmas.

I'm sure some beauty fans will be disappointed that this calendar doesn't feature 24 beauty products, but I'm keeping an open mind because the other 7 treats, including gift tags, stickers, and place cards, could be just as lovely. I have a weakness for pretty stationery and gift wrapping supplies, so it's a possibility. We'll just have to wait and see.

For now, here's a full list of the products included in the calendar.

♥ Almond shower oil 35ml.
♥ Almond delicious hands 10ml.
♥ Pivoine Flora eau de toilette 5ml.
♥ Delightful rose hand cream 10ml.
♥ Nail file.
♥ Set of 5 gift tags.
♥ Jasmin & Bergamote soap 50g.
♥ Shea butter hand cream 10ml.
♥ Star shaped pastry cutter.
♥ Milk extra-gentle soap 50g.
♥ Pivoine flora hand cream 10ml.

♥ Verbena body lotion 30ml.
♥ Cherry blossom hand cream 10ml.
♥ Moisturising lip balm 3ml.
♥ Shea butter foot cream 10ml.
♥ Sachet of stars.

I think there's a great variety of products included in the calendar, and a good selection of fragrances, too. It includes a few of my old favourites, and also quite a few items I've never tried before, which I can't wait to sample next month. I'm particularly excited for the cherry blossom and verbena goodies, because they're my two favourite L'Occitane fragrances, and it's been ages since I last treated myself to some. Both fragrances are to die for! If you've never tried anything from L'Occitane before, I'd recommend giving products from either collection a try.

I'm not going to open the windows to show you each item today because I want to enjoy the surprise every day in the run up to Christmas. You'll just have to wait until next month to see them! I'm planning to share what I find behind each window every day on Instagram in December, and I'll also blog about each product here, too. (Although, I haven't decided how often I'll do that yet).

If you really want to spoil yourself or a loved one in the run up to Christmas, I can't recommend this calendar enough. It will either make you feel like a pampered princess, or put you in the good books with the lucky lady you give it to. Just imagine how lovely it would be to wake up to a different beauty product or little gift every day for three and a half weeks! Counting down to Christmas this way is so much fun, and far more exciting than counting down with boring novelty chocolates or illustrations. It's also a great way to sample lots of different L'Occitane goodies if you want to give their products a try, but don't know where to start.

The advent calendar is priced at just £39, which I think is really reasonable, particularly because its contents are worth £52! It's one of the lowest priced beauty advent calendars around this year, which is amazing from a high quality, high-end brand.

It's available to buy online on their website here, and you might still be able to find it in store, too.

December can't come quickly enough!

How will you be counting down to Christmas this year?

Beauty Advent Calendar Round Up Christmas 2015

Over the last few years, beauty advent calendars have been taking the beauty world by storm, and this year there are more to choose from than ever before. So far I've seen 35, which is twice as many as I found last Christmas!

We can now count down the days 'til Christmas with make up, fragrances, and all manner of beauty products, instead of being limited to novelty chocolates, simple illustrations, and homemade calendars. I don't know about you, but I find the idea of pampering my way through 'til Christmas far more appealing!

In fact, I've already treated myself to a beauty calendar to enjoy this year, but not before I did a lot of window shopping online to see what my options were. After hours of browsing, I discovered 35 of them, and since finding them took a lot of effort, I've decided to share them all with you to make your life that little bit easier. Here you'll find all kinds of beauty calendars, ranging in price from a purse-friendly £5 to an indulgent £260, with links to as many as possible.

Let's start with Jo Malone's fragrance advent calendar, which is one of the most expensive on the market. Inside are a variety of Jo Malone colognes and body cremes, which can all be worn alone, or layered up to create your own seasonal scents. At £260, it's not cheap, but counting down to Christmas will never be more indulgent!

Charlotte Tilbury The Book of Make Up Magic £150

One of this year's most luxurious calendars is Charlotte Tilbury's The Book of Make Up Magic. The 12 day calendar features 12 of her most popular make up and skin care products, including her magic night cream which hasn't even been released yet. At £150 it's a wonderfully indulgent gift for any beauty fan, and it's sure to make December feel extra special.
Liberty £149

If you really want to spoil yourself or a loved one this Christmas, then Liberty's advent calendar is worth checking out. It has a beautiful illustration of the Liberty building on the front, and opens up to reveal twenty-four drawers in a classic Liberty paisley print. Inside are deluxe samples and 11 full sized beauty products and candles from luxury brands like Eve Lom, Dr Sebagh, Diptyque, Surratt, and Davines. The contents are worth a staggering £400, making it the ultimate treat for the beauty obsessed.

The Body Shop '24 Happy Days': Green: £60 // Red £80

This year, The Body Shop have released two advent calendars to cater to two budgets (£60 and £80), which is something I haven't seen done before, but a concept I love. Both calendars are filled with a great variety of The Body Shop's bath and body, skin care, fragrance, and make up items, in a selection of their classic, new, and seasonal scents. They're sure to be a hit with any Body Shop fan. The red calendar is no longer available online, but you might still be able to find it in store.

I had a Body Shop advent calendar last year, which was almost identical to the green one, and I loved it! You can read my review of last year's calendar here, if you want to get a feel for it, I was planning on getting one again this year, but most of the products are the same, and it's £10 more expensive, so I went with a different one instead.

Clarins have released their first advent calendar this year, filled with 24 of their best selling skin care and make up products to help you count down to Christmas in style. Available now for £60.

You Beauty's advent calendar was a best seller last Christmas, and this year's is set to be just as popular. It features 24 luxury beauty treats from brands like Ren, Burt's Bees, Cowshed, and Benefit, together worth a staggering £330!

Technically, it isn't an advent calendar, but Lush have produced a gorgeous Christmas gift set called 12 Days of Christmas, which would be perfect to enjoy in the run up to Christmas. There are some great goodies from both the Christmas collection and their general selection, included in the set of 12, and it's so beautifully packaged, too.

Developed by the people behind Cowshed, the Cheeky advent calendar is made up of 24 long lasting, hi-shine nail polishes in a variety of beautiful shades. You can find it via John Lewis for £49.

L'Occitane is one of my favourite beauty brands, so I was extremely excited when I found out they were bringing out a 24 day advent calendar this year, which I believe is their first 24 day-er. It includes 17 of their best selling beauty products, and 7 further Provencal gifts, including a cookie cutter and Christmas place cards. At £39 it's so well priced and I couldn't resist snapping one up for myself! Benefit Roller Lash Mascara Review

Ladies, what would you say if I told you you could have both long and curled eyelashes without picking up your eyelash curlers or even setting foot in a salon? No, I'm serious; you can! It isn't complicated, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg; all you need is one coat of the newest mascara in town: Benefit Roller Lash.

Roller Lash is a super-curling and lifting mascara, that has been inspired by good old fashioned hair curlers. The mascara wand has little hooks attached to the base of the bristles, which grab on to the lashes as the mascara is applied. This helps to roll the lashes upwards, and results in fabulous long, curled lashes! Benefit call it the 'Hook 'n' Roll'.

The mascara itself contains an instant curve-setting formula, which claims to last twelve hours, and  it also includes pro-vitamins that are known for their lash-conditioning benefits. This mascara sounds too good to be true! I mean, who doesn't want a long lasting mascara that curls and lengthens lashes and keeps them well conditioned?!

I was personally excited to hear of this miracle-working mascara, and when I heard it would be free with this month's Elle magazine, I quickly snapped one up. I was already a fan of Benefit's other mascaras, "They're Real" and "Bad Gal", so I had high hopes for Roller Lash. And... I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint!

In fact, I think it may actually be the best mascara I've ever used! I bloody love it! It noticeably lengthens my lashes and gives them the most incredible curl- and that's without the use of my eyelash curlers! Just take a look at my lashes...

I'm seriously blown away by how well this mascara actually works. I'm wearing just one coat of Roller Lash here, and I did not curl my lashes with an eyelash curler at any point! Amazing, right? You can't argue with results like these! (It usually gives me an even higher lift; too! I've never had lovelier lashes, with or without the use of an eyelash curler.

I forgot to take a before photo, but my lashes are naturally quite flat, and need a little help to curl. I've been a slave to my eyelash curlers since I was eleven because of this, but since I began using Roller Lash, I've not had to use them once!

You'll never need to pick up a pair of curlers as long as you have this mascara in your life!

I've already worn Roller Lash about a dozen times, and I find it stays in place perfectly all day. The curl holds at least twelve hours, and it hasn't yet smudged or bled on to my skin at any point, like some do. Though, thankfully, it does come off really easily with make up remover at the end of the day!

I honestly can't fault Roller Lash one little bit. I'm so impressed with the results that I've become a little obsessed with it. It's become my new favourite staple mascara and I just love wearing it. I'll definitely be buying myself a full sized tube when I've used this little tube up! Two enthusiastic thumbs up from me!

A 3g tube of Roller Lash is available free with Elle Magazine this month, and the full-sized 8.5g mascara is available to buy from Benefit now.

Have you tried Roller Lash yet? What do you think of it?
