Sunday Favourites #11

Evening fashionable followers,

I'm sorry I've not posted much these last few days, but I promise to bring you some proper fashion-related posts this week. For now, I've put together a post of some of the images which have inspired me in the last seven days. Enjoy!

These ombre striped nails look fantastic, and I might just have to give them a try myself.

These mystical looking constellation nails are so pretty.

I love these bat tattoos.

This image of plus size model Tess Munster makes such a powerful statement. I hate that the word 'fet*sh' is applied to size. Why is being attracted to fat people considered a fet*sh, when being attracted to thin people is not? We're all human, and everybody is attracted to different qualities- who is anybody to judge how someone else lives their life? Nobody has the right to judge what is 'normal', or to stamp a word that commonly translates to 'freak!' on something they don't understand.

We all know a fet*sh is often considered a bizarre obsession that one doesn't talk about outside of the bedroom, so naming attraction to plus size people with such a title is just another example of how society thinks of fat people; just like a dirty little secret that should be hidden away where nobody else can see them. And this needs to change. Normal comes in all shapes and sizes. And a person, no matter their size or shape,  is not a fet*sh!

*I've asterisked the word to try to avoid traffic from 'fet*shists'.

This may be one of the most perfect ensembles in existence. Oh how I love that beautiful tulle skirt! What would it take for it to magically appear in my wardrobe?

This is another outfit I would happily wear myself. The shape of the dress and the little details to the cardigan are so perfect.

Sandra Dee in 1959. What a classic outfit!

This outfit from the first scene of the first SATC movie is one of my favourite Carrie looks. It's so feminine and sophisticated, but the clashing prints and those killer heels and great belt give the look an edge. Every time I watch the film I lust over the gorgeous green dress and coat. I love the Eiffel Tower bag, too.

Every girl's problem!

I think I laughed at this image for about ten minutes straight when I saw this on my Tumblr dash at the start of the week. I have to say I watched the elections with baited breath- even though I''m English, and I was relieved when President Obama was reelected. #TeamObama.

This really doesn't need an explanation, does it?

Too many people presume that if you're fat then you must be unhappy with yourself and spend all your time longing to be thin. This isn't always the case, and I strongly believe everybody has the right to love who they are and be respected for that by the people around them. If only people were programmed to accept others for who they are at any size!

Just be yourself! Being yourself is a wonderful thing!

Samantha is great at advice!

Remember this the next time somebody verbally abuses you.

Mental illnesses are so common, and you probably have several friends and family members who are affected with depression and/or anxiety alone. The best thing you can do is be there for that person. Keeping in contact and lending an ear can help sufferers more than you can imagine.

I would never in a million years have imagined that this would be my life. I took my life for granted and was wasting my twenties.Although I'm now going through the most difficult time I've ever had to face, it's probably the wake up call I needed. My perspective on life and so many other topics has changed. I've learnt to be comfortable with who I am more than I've ever been before and that's all thanks to discovering body positive blogs- which I would never have found if it hadn't of been for my injuries. I would never have dreamt I would have my own blog or enjoy blogging so much, either! But life is full of surprises, and things rarely go the way we planned them to.

Enjoy your freedom and lack of responsibilities while you can, so you can look back with no regrets. There's a whole world out there to explore and enjoy, and memories to make. This is the time to start really finding out who you are and what makes you tick.

"A pet swan named Leila being helped in to a car where it enjoys a ride to the shops. It's owner Mrs Watson of Chesham, Buckinghamshire, says that Leila, who has been a family pet for two years, can open doors and is a good guard dog. England, 1936"

Now I've heard everything!
