Freckles and Fox Print

Today's outfit was dressed around a scarf, which is not something that happens all that often. I usually pick a scarf to compliment the clothes I've picked out.

On this occasion, I had a good reason. I won a beautiful scarf and was asked to take a selfie of me wearing it, so I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone and get an outfit post out of it as well. I'll be reviewing the scarf tomorrow morning, and today I'm focusing on my outfit.

It was raining lightly when I made it outside to take these photos late Monday afternoon, so the photos aren't brilliant. I couldn't pose in my normal spot because my Dad was sitting in the living room which looks out on to it, and being watched was making me feel self-conscious. I hid in the corner hoping to get a little shelter from the drizzle, but it's pretty much the least scenic part of the entire garden in the Winter. Sorry!

I took about a hundred photos and I'm not all that happy with any of them. I love the outfit, but I'm just not feeling all that great about the way I look at the moment. I was meant to wear a cardigan with this outfit to cover my arms, but accidentally left it upstairs; it takes me about five minutes to get up them again so that's where it stayed. Thankfully it wasn't all that cold.

Moaning aside, I really liked the way this look turned out. The scarf is quite summery, but I had the idea of trying it with deep purple, cerise and magenta to make it work for Winter. I personally think I nailed it. What do you think?

I went with one of my very favourite dresses, a fox print dress by South for Very which I bought late last Summer. I adore it. It's been my go-to dress all Autumn and Winter, and I've returned to it countless times, trying out different colour combinations. It's the most gorgeous deep cerise colour, with a sweetheart neckline and a lace insert above it at the front and back, but the best part is that it's covered in a lovely red fox print. It's gorgeous. I love this dress so much, I actually bought myself a spare during the winter sales, because I know I'll be devastated when it falls apart. I'm sorry to tell you it's now completely sold out.

I also wore berry coloured tights from Evans, and a pair of bright magenta ballet slippers from New Look. I have those pumps for a few years now, and I've barely worn them because they need breaking in. I hate breaking new shoes in!  It was painful just walking back and forth from the camera to take these photos!

The scarf is from Vida Moda and I won it in a giveaway with Pretty Big Butterflies, but more on that tomorrow! The review will be live at 9am UK time if you'd like to read more about it.

I have a bruise on my nose and I've no idea what I've done! Maybe I hit myself in the face with my Kindle in my sleep or something. Lol.

On another note, I can't believe how much my hair has grown in three months! I'm liking it much better now it's grown out a little, but I'm long over due a dye. My roots are atrocious! I know what my next mission is...

  1. Love the fox dress - I'm sure I've said that before, as it's lovely! :)
And the scarf goes perfectly with this outfit.
I hate wearing in new shoes as well - is it possible for you to wear them in the house with thicker socks on, as I sometimes find that a good way to do it.

    1. Char it must take you forever to wear in all your shoes haha! :D your collection is epic, plus I always find heels are the worst to break in! I'm prone to blister with almost every new pair of shoes I get, so it's not always a pleasant experience, good luck Louise xxx

    2. Thank you, Char! The dress is still one of my favourites. It's a real beauty. I have tried wearing them around the house with socks a few times in the past. This pair seems to be reluctant to break, though.

    3. Char really does have the most amazing shoe collection! Breaking them in must be a killer. I always blister with new shoes, too. I wrecked two of my toes so badly last time that they both had to be operated on. Not fun. I'm sure I'll get around to breaking this pair in eventually! Haha! xx

  2. Ah I love this outfit on you! That dress is so wonderful and works just as well with this scarf as it did before. Awesome.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that prefers grown-out hair. I had a cut a few weeks ago and it was so blunt: it felt amazing, but I hate how it looks! I think it's always better when it's had some time to settle in xxx

    1. Thanks, Hannah! I still love this dress, and like how this outfit came together. I don't usually mind a fresh hair cut, but I agree it's usually better once it's had a few weeks to settle. My hairdresser went about an inch shorter than I wanted and it felt too short for me, but thankfully my hair grows fast xx

  3. Your hair has grown loads! Love the selfies, you look gorgeous, the coral colour of the scarf is beautiful on you, and yes you nailed the colour combination! the dress is so lovely, no wonder you got a spare! breaking shoes in is hideous, have you tried the next size? my Eldest (age 19) has gone up a shoe size in the last 12 months! x x x

    1. It has! My hair generally grows at a fast rate. Aw thank you! I do love wearing coral. And I'm in love with this dress. :) The next size up was far too big for me. The fit isn't the problem, it's just the leather is very hard. I'm usually fine with New Look ballet pumps. Wow, I thought most people's feet stopped growing before that age! I think mine stopped by age twelve- well length-wise anyway. xx

    1. Ouch! I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that. I usually lie on my side, but have a tendancy to hit myself with it when I suddenly drop off while reading. At least it doesn't hurt as much as a 1000 page hard back! Thanks, Leah! xx

  6. I love that dress and your garden isn't that bad - its about a million times better than our gross inner city carpark where I take my outfit posts ;)

    1. Thanks, Trees. Our garden is so much nicer when the sun is shining and flowers are in bloom. In Autumn, this corner has loads of bright orange berries, but it's quite ugly before Spring. xx
