Blog Every Day in May Day Ten: Most Embarrassing Moment(s)

I can't believe we're already ten days in to May already! Where has the year gone? Time seems to pass me by in a blur these days, and all the days just merge in to one.

Anyway, I'm just about a third of the way through the May blogging challenge, and today's subject is 'Most embarrassing moment(s). Spill.'

I immediately thought about this topic with dread. It's bad enough that I've embarrassed myself more times than I care to remember, but now I have to open old wounds, and share them with the world? (Or the small proportion of people in the world that read this blog, that is). Well, that's just cruel!

Well, alright, let's get it over with. I'll tell you about a few of them...

1. So, I only recently told you this story, but it's one of my most embarrassing memories that I've not yet repressed. It was five or six years ago, and I was at work (I worked in retail in an esteemed interiors store / children's store). My boss came to relieve me from my shift on the till so I could go to lunch. I stepped aside to let him through, got my foot caught and literally fell flat on my face in front of two colleagues, and a dozen customers, smacking my jaw on the stone floor. I've never been so embarrassed in my entire life. I scrambled to my feet, hid around the corner, and later ended up in A&E because I broke my wrist. Epic fail! It's probably one of my worst ever moments. To make matters worse, my boss was less than friendly about the whole situation.

2. One day back in secondary school when I was maybe thirteen or fourteen, I was a bit under the weather, and my legs gave way while I was walking down a flight of stairs. I slid down a few stairs on my knees, and ended up with swollen, bruised legs from my knee caps to my feet. And it just so happened to be while there were loads of people around... mortified. Thankfully, I don't remember being laughed at, or teased about it, but I was still so embarrassed.

3. Then there was the time I met Boyzone for the first time back in 2009.  I'd won a meet and greet with them during an arena tour. I've mentioned a couple of times how my best friend and I have been huge fans of them since the early nineties, but had never met them until that night, so it was a big deal for us. It was my bestie's birthday, and she was three months pregnant, so she was happy and giddy with excitement, and her usual chatty outgoing self. Then there was me... shaking like a leaf in a hurricane, and rendered mute the second the first of them approached us. I barely uttered a word! I felt so awkward.

I tried to take Angela's photo with each of them with my erratically shaking hands. Ronan and Stephen were especially patient and their smiles kept getting larger the more my hands shook as I tried to take the photo but I was mortified. Even as the meet and greet went on and Ronan, Stephen, and Mikey made us feel at ease, my hands would not stop shaking. I just look back on most of that night with shame. Why did I have to do that? Why? WHY?

4. My sister once made me change seats three times on a busy moving coach on the way to London because she wasn't happy with the lack of leg room wherever she chose to sit. (She's a good four inches taller than I am). I ended up being thrown against the overhead unit which holds the air conditioning, reading lights etc. I gained a bad concussion, plus a huge bump and bruises on my forehead that lasted a week. It was so humiliating. I didn't go to get it checked out as we were on the way to a concert, but on the way back I couldn't even lean my head back against the seat because I felt so nauseated.

5. I was once shouted at by a colleague from another department in front of two of my colleagues and a shop full of customers. She was out of line. I was humiliated. And I ended up in tears in the staffroom.

And the embarrassing memories certainly don't end there. I have plenty of memories of stupid things I've said or done. I say stupid things on a regular basis... but I think I've embarrassed myself enough for one day, so I shall leave it at these five.

What's your most embarrassing memory?

    1. Oh no! If it had been me I would have been mortified! I bet they all enjoyed the view, though! Haha. Can't believe you're not even that embarrassed about it. I've done the same at home before, and that was bad enough! xx
