Winterlicious Tag

I saw this festive tag over on A Day in the Life of a Scottish Lass's Blog and thought it would be fun to give it a go as I'm feeling festive. I did a similar one a month or two ago for Autumn, which you can read here.

What is your most worn Winter clothing piece?

That would be my white and grey tartan Dorothy Perkins duffel coat. I've had it for three winters now, so it's had a lot of wear. I had to remove the fur-lined hood as it looked too much like a smart parka- not my style at all.

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

The Family Stone, Love Actually, Santa Claus The Movie, Muppet Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th Street, and Home Alone.

What is your most worn Winter accessory?

This season, probably my teal ASOS snood, but if we're including previous Winters, then it would have to be either my blue polka dot Accessorize scarf, my blue and teal crochet Accessorize gloves, or my purple Evans ankle boots.

What is your favourite eye palette?

My Inglot Freedom Palettes are my favourites. Most of the colours I filled them with are versatile enough to wear throughout the year. I have some gorgeous golds and bronze shadows, and the greens and purples are also fabulous Winter colours. Inglot eye shadows are hands down the best I've ever owned. They're highly pigmented, silky soft, and last all day (or night)! The best thing is, Inglot palettes come in a wide range of sizes, and you choose which shadows to fill them with to cater to your personal tastes!

What is your favourite Christmas food/treat?

Can't really beat a turkey and stuffing sandwich! Although they lose their appeal by the 27th.

What is your favourite every day Christmas perfume?

My favourite perfume for this time of year is definitely DKNY Red Delicious. It's the ultimate wintry fragrance. It's a very sweet perfume which smells of red apples and winter berries, and also contains lychee and champagne. It's divine! It you could bottle up Winter, this is what it would smell like.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

I couldn't pick a particular favourite Christmas song, as there are so many great tunes I have to play every Christmas. I love most versions of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. I play Ronan Keating's Winter Songs album to death each December. I love The Pogues' Fairy Tale of New York, Darlene Love's All Alone on Christmas, Greg Lake's I Believe in Father Christmas, Chris De Burgh's A Spaceman Came Travelling, Paul McCartney's Wonderful Christmas Time, The Calling's Carol of the Bells... I could list songs all night!

Favourite Christmas blusher?

I can't say I have such a thing as a 'Christmas blusher', but I think Benefit's Bene Tint cheek and lip stain is my current favourite. It gives an English Rose glow; like I've just come inside from the cold.

What is your favourite Winter beverage?

I'm not much of a hot beverage drinker, but I do like the occasional Costa hot chocolate... with marshmallows, and no cream, of course! It was always my go-to drink after a long day of shopping in the cold.

What is your favourite lip product?

I couldn't live without a Carmex original lip pot. I use that lip balm all year round, as I'm prone to badly chapped lips. It's so nourishing, and actually softens my lips for a couple of hours at a time- trust me, that's a miracle for me! I'm really loving Benefit's Bene Tint right now, too.

What is your favourite Winter scent/candle?

I love the smell of pine needles, and Christmas spices at this time of year. My favourite winter candles are the cupcake Yankee candles as they smell just like somebody has been baking cakes in the kitchen.

Do you have any Christmas traditions?

We always used to go to a family gathering at my Auntie's on Christmas Eve, which would always get us in to the Christmas spirit. During the hour and a half drive home we'd pass houses all lit up for Christmas, and listen to festive tunes, and get so excited as Christmas morning would be a mere nine or ten hours away by then. It never truly felt like Christmas until that journey home. My Auntie still hosts this party, just a few days earlier to take the pressure off, so it's still a tradition, but I miss the Christmas Eve excitement. I've not been able to attend the last few years; either because I couldn't get the day off work, or as is the case for this year and last, because of my injuries. It's not quite the same without it.

It's also a tradition to decorate the tree whilst listening to the album '100% Christmas', and to bake on Christmas Eve.

What is your favourite Winter nail polish?

I'm loving Barry M's Racing Green at the minute, which is a gorgeous dark 'beetle green'. I also like using Inglot's 024 which is a warm red with a hint of gold, and Barry M's Ruby Glitter is perfect for a bit of sparkle.

What is at the top of your Christmas list?

I know several of the items on my wish list have been bought for me for Christmas, and I've also treated myself to a few of the others this past week, so I've been a lucky girl. There's a beautiful tan scalloped ASOS satchel I'm dying to adopt, but I know I won't be getting it for Christmas. Other than that, I'm just hoping for some lovely Lush goodies, and a nail art book or two.

What are your plans for the holidays this year?

I'm spending Christmas at home with my immediate family (Mum, Dad, two Sisters, and the dog). And, if I can physically cope with the journey, I will probably spend New Year with my older Sister at her home on the South coast. We'll probably watch some chick flicks, get some good food, and have a few drinks. We did that last year and it was a great way to ring in the New Year, under the circumstances. Working in retail from age seventeen, I always worked every New Year and only had a few days off over Christmas, so it's a novelty to be able to actually enjoy it all!

Most of the holidays will still be spent in bed, but I'm looking forward to Christmas and New Year regardless.
